Log In and Registration Issues
Why can't I log in?Have you registered? You must be a registered user in order to log in. The only real advice here is to double-check your username and password. If you are sure they are correct then the only thing to do is to check with the forum administrator - they may have a problem with the configuration settings for the board.
Why should I register?Registration will give you the ability to post messages as well as access to private messages, e-mailing to other users, the possibility of administrators adding you to groups to give you privileged access to the forum and more!
User Preferences and Settings
How do I change my settings?Your settings are created by you when you register and are stored in a database. To amend them after registration just ensure you are logged in and then click the Edit Profile link at the top of the page.
Posting Issues
How do I post a topic in a forum?Just click on the Post New Message link at the top of the forum. If you wish to reply to a message then click the Post Reply link at the bottom of the thread. Keep in mind that you must be registered and logged in to post.
How do I edit a post?Unless you are given specific access by an administrator you can only edit your own posts. To edit the post just click the Edit Post link that appears with your message.
How do I add a signature to my post?To add a signature you must first create one. This can be done in the Edit Profile screen described above. The signature is then added to all your posts by default. If you wish not to append your signature to a post just uncheck the Include Signature checkbox.
|
Why can't I access a forum? Some forums may be limited to certain groups. To view, read, post, etc. you will need to be added to a group with special permissions by the forum administrator.
What is a locked thread/forum?An administrator or moderator can lock threads/forums to stop posts being entered into them. They would usually do this because they want that discussion to cease. Please respect that and move along peacefully.
Message Formatting
Can I use HTML?Yes - not much need to say anymore!
What is BBCode?BBCode is similar to HTML but easier to use. For more information on using BBCode click here.
Can I post images?Yes. Although there is no facility to post them on the forum's webspace. This means that you have to upload the image to your own webspace and link to it using either the HTML img tag or the BBCode [img] tag.
User Levels and Groups
What is an administrator? An administrator has control of the entire forum and as such has full control over moderation of forums, banning of users, etc.
What is a Moderator?Moderators have the ability to ban users and to control posts within the confines of the forums that they moderate. They take care of the day-to-day running of a forum and are generally there to keep discussions on-topic and non-abusive.
How do I become a moderator or administrator? You will need to contact the forum administrator and ask them to add you to the relevant group. Of course, it is their decision whether or not they decide to grant you the necessary priveleges.
General Forum Questions
Who wrote this forum software? This forum software (in its unmodified form) is written, released and copyrighted by class-1 Web Consultants. It is made available under the GNU General Public License and may be freely distributed. See the lisence.txt file enclosed with the software for more information.
Why doesn't the forum do X?This software is constantly evolving and feature X may be planned for future releases. However, you can request features at the class-1 Forums.
Whom do I contact about abusive and/or legal matters relating to this forum? In the first instance you should contact the forum administrator or one of the moderators. If you are not satisfied with the response then you should contact the owner of the domain that the forum is on. It is pointless contacting class-1 in relation to any forum hosted outside of the www.class1web.co.uk domain.
